The current bench project, and the hangar's first resin kit: Axis Model Works' Osiris Aerial Dominator, a 1/100 garage-kit reinterpretation of the NZ-666 Kshatriya. It was picked up after seeing the level of detail third-party kits deliver for the dollar these days compared to Bandai, and then going down the resin/GK rabbit hole for the details injection kits leave out. Resin demands a different workflow: nothing snaps together on its own, parts often want glue or pinning, and shapes and edges routinely need more cleanup than injection plastic before they fit. Even after cleanup this kit's fittings run very tight; fully seating a part is a struggle more often than not, and occasionally it costs paint. It's also the first build here to use precut masking tape, which made the color separation on the dock materially quicker, though plenty of additional hand-cut masking was still needed on top of it. One honest knock on the kit: the waterslide decals in the box are poor, with low-quality backing film that traps tiny bubbles, never lies completely flat, and shows its borders. Nowhere near the aftermarket sheets from Taobao this hangar usually runs.
The build runs bottom-up from the maintenance dock: the dock's few big runners made a natural first bite out of the kit's mountain of runners, and finishing the base first means every later assembly has something to stand on; start at the shoulders or head and there's nothing to mount them to. The dock wrapped in mid-February 2026, the legs in mid-April, and the waist in early July; the torso is next on the bench. Before/afters in each section show that stage against its out-of-box reference; the paint recipe will be logged once the full scheme is locked. Follow the build log below for progress.
2026.JUL.07// CURRENT POSITION
Waist finished
Third section docked. The waist is where the kit's density really shows: laid out on the mat before assembly, most of the parts were already finished pieces. Candy-red domes, plated pipework, and white conduit that stays visible after the skirts close over the frame. It also put up a fight. The copper fuel tanks under the back-skirt armor were genuinely difficult to insert, tight enough that some paint got scratched seating them. That's been the pattern with this kit overall: the fittings run very tight, and getting parts home is a struggle more often than not. The inner frame still got the full paint-and-decal pass even where armor swallows it, and the two-tone green carries straight over from the legs. Mated to the legs on the dock, the lower half finally reads as one machine. Moving upward.

Legs finished
Two months of learning resin the hard way: fitment by glue here, pins there, never a snap, and shapes and edges that need real cleanup work before paint. Both legs assembled, painted, and mounted on the dock; the comparison in the legs section shows the change from the bare kit. Next up the waist, moving upward.

Maintenance dock complete
Started on and off from late December, right after the Unicorn wrapped. The Osiris ships with an all-black display dock; it left the bench painted and detailed as a working maintenance bay. First outing for precut masking tape, which, along with a lot of extra hand-cut masking, is what made the dock's color separation possible. The before/after in the base section shows the out-of-box dock against the finished piece.
